DPA-III division implements Grant in Aid projects in India’s neighbouring and friendly countries. India’s Grant in Aid development partnership is inspired by the spirit of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’. India does not approach such development partnerships as a donor, and does not have any prescriptive or extractive conditionalities attached to such initiatives.
The principal focus of India’s development partnership is to build capacities of developing nations and it's institutions for governance and delivery of public service, develop socio-economic infrastructure, secure lives and promote livelihoods.
Grant in Aid projects are demand-based and are closely aligned with the priorities of the partner countries. India's approach towards developmental partnerships has been comprehensive, offering assistance while sharing India’s own developmental experience in the full spectrum of activities, ranging from creation of infrastructure such as railway links, roads & bridges, waterways, border-related infrastructure, transmission lines, power generation, hydropower etc. to building capacities in education, healthcare, agriculture and community development. Moreover, the criteria for the selection of the projects depends on India’s relation with the host country and decisions are taken by DPA III in collaboration with the territorial division and our mission.
